Leaf Mentoring for
Faith-Based and
National Youth Organizations

  • Because youth stay connected to their faith when they have strong relationships with those who have faith
  • Because faith communities cherish their mature members and know how much they have to offer to younger generations
  • Because faith communities value spirituality, self esteem, academic success, healthy peer and family relationships and good behavioral choices
  • Because faith communities believe in creating good in this world
  • Because mentoring works

“Skills learned and practised changed the students for the better and gave them the confidence and tools to improve their interpersonal relationships as well as the ability to engage and create new sustained friendships. The process was well conceived and executed with great care, thought and precision, leading a successful model for all involved.”
Rabbi Pinchas Hecht, Head of School

Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples are losing young constituents at a historic rate. While pundits spend their time arguing the reason why, Leaf Mentoring proposes a solution; create the relationships with role models that create a sense of belonging.  Leaf Mentoring’s program can be implemented in houses of worship and in local or national youth groups affiliated with those houses of worship.

Mentorship is many things; friendship, coaching, advocacy and acceptance. But there is no function greater than that of role modeling. In a healthy, lasting mentoring relationship, the mentee wants to become like their mentor.

Leaf Mentoring has a vision of faith communities that link their generations so that knowledge and faith can be passed from one generation to the next. It is a vision of youth who succeed behaviorally, academically, socially and spiritually because they form connections with venerated members of their faith based community.

Leaf Mentoring believes that feeling like you belong in a house of worship or in a faith-based youth organization and wanting to be like individuals of faith are the most effective ways to keep your community vibrant and strong. And Leaf Mentoring also believes that a strategic, well implemented and well maintained mentoring program is the best way to accomplish this.

Why Faith-Based Organizational Mentoring?

Communities succeed when resources and strategies come from within. Leaf Mentoring helps faith-based organizations serve their youth and young adult community by training members of the community and establishing an independently and internally run mentoring program. In this way, faith-based organizations create strong intergenerational communities filled with committed leaders.

The abundant presence of skilled mentors and potential mentees make a worship community one of the most fertile grounds for a mentoring program. Leaf Mentoring has a vision of faith communities that link their generations so that knowledge and faith can be passed from one generation to the next. It is a vision of youth who succeed behaviorally, academically, socially and spiritually because they form connections with venerated members of their faith-based community.

Many faith based organizations also have localized youth groups or national youth organizations. Adult and peers leaders in these organizations can have the greatest impact when they are trained to effectively guide youth in strong role modeling mentoring relationships.

Leaf Mentoring provides the training, oversight and tools for faith-based communities and youth organizations to make their young members stay committed and flourish in every aspect of their lives.
